Reed Wins Senate Nomination
June
4 - In a close race decided by less than 500 votes, Christopher Reed
has secured the Republican Party Nomination to run against
incumbent Senator Tom Harkin. The statewide vote totals for the race
are as folllows:

Eichhorn 24,839 34.58%

21,457 29.87%
The Senate race was the only
contested Republican race in Jackson County. In other non-contested
races, Iowa State Senator David Hartsuch secured the party nomination
for the United State House of Representatives in Iowa's 1st
Congressional District. He will go on to face Democrat incumbent Bruce
Braley in the general election. David Kendell secured the Republican
nomination for Jackson County Supervisor. Kendell will challenge
incumbent Larry "Buck" Koos in November.
